  3. Who in your opinion gave the best performance (and what stood out about it?)
  4. Discuss any special moments in the film / special effects
  5. What was your opinion on the film? (with reasons)
  6. Who might enjoy the film? (why?)
The film that i am reviewing today, is called 'the witness'. This film was released in 1985, and directed by a man called Peter Weir. This man creates a cunning plot to the movie that causes serious problems. A detective commiting a crime, which ended up as a result to injuries occuring and deaths being lost. The only reason the detective was caught commiting this crime, was due to an innocent little amish boy, going to the toilet before a train journey at the train station. The boy was in the toilet whilst the drama took place by the sinks. I find that this movie was a great thriller to watch and i would definatly recommend it to the ages of 13 up to adults.  John Brook, Played a spectacular role throughout this movie as one of th main characters. I thought that there was a strong connection betweeen him and rachel especially when he was injured and rachel was treating him like a patient. Overall, the acting in this movie was outstanding and each character really contributed to the scene and drama the viewer is watching. I give this movie a 3 out of 5 rating only due to the fact that i prefer a more adventurous movie. That is only my opinion.

My second lecture in 4th year.

On tueday, the fourth year group had another guest speaker. His name was denis and he was there to talk to us about the charity and help Autism Ireland brings to people. This charity provides help and factse about autism to families with an autistic child, to help them understand how to deal with this. Denis, speaks in many schools about this common disease and explains what happens to the person with it. Denis has experience witht his subject as his son, Jonny Sexton was born with autism and can barely speak.n The last time Denis heard his son speak was 7 years ago, and Jonny is not 27 living with his parents for comfort and care. Autism, is far more common to boys than girls. The ratio between them is 4 boys to 1 girl. Currently 1 in 100 are born with this disease and it has become more common throughut the past 5 or 6 years in Ireland. When someone has autism, they may have a strong case or a very mild case. The following features may be included within both types of cases:
No speach
unnessesary sentences
take things offensivly
communcation problems
obsessive
obsessions change
excessive speaking words the picked up
take things litteraly, they do not understand sarcasm
no care for personal items, break/destroy things very easily.
They play differently, some take apart a toy and some choose to throw toys.

My first lecture in 4th year

On Tuesday this week, we had a guest speaker called Zoltan. This is apperintly one of the best lectures we would get throughout fourth year as he is famous wordwide and known as one of the few holocaust survivors. In my opinion, i had an amazing time listening to his life story. It was one of the most interesting speaches i have ever heard and probably will ever hear. He explained his story in detail to our whole year, and showed us a horrific video of  back in the 1940s, Germany. The unfortunate story was that his father was the only Jew in the house, and his mother refused to sign the form agreeing to his religion, therefore he took all 6 of them. His sisters brothers and parents all went on a 12 hour journey to the campsite called Bergin belson. He explained how he visited this camp after the war, and said that he was never going to go back as it was one of the worst experiences of his life. In the video, He showed how So many people had died of starvation in World War II and after the video, he told us that he doesnt watch that movie alot as one of those women being thrown in the pit may have been his mother. The only 2 people in the family of 6 that survived was him and his sister. He said how his sister survived physically but not mentally, as she had brain damage in later life. At the age of five he was in the camp Bergin Belson, and for two months he had to live around dying and starving people of all ages. After these two months had passed, the camp was liberated. During the same day his mother had passed away. Out of the whole story I found that part the most horrible as he had to watch his own mother die

Friday 7 September 2012

On my first week in transition year, the whoole year went on a trip. Half of the year went to Donegal and the other half went to the Aran islands. The main reason went to visit these places is because they have a large amount of irish culture in these areas. I was very happy, as i was put in the Aran Islands trip with many of my friends. Most of our year had a fantastic time, in both locations. We arrived at 2 o'clock on the island we were all very excited to explire the island of inis Mor. 6 hours of traveling really made me tired and I was hoping we could have a rest. But Ms Gilmore insisted on us going on a 2 hour long walk. I we started walking, and it began to rain. Although this was annoying, we still got to see very interesting monuments with our group, and lernt about many facts that I had no idea about before this walk. This was mainly because we had a tour guide. He showed us things like statues, graveyards, many more. He told us stories about people who died at sea, and showed us a monument with every single persons name who dies at sea on it. I found that part of the tour very interesting. After visiting this monument we started walking home. by this time it was about 6 oclock and we were all ready for dinner at the local hotel. After dinner, everyone went back to there seperate hostles. there was two hostels chosen by the teachers that we were split into. my friends in my house were Becky, Jordan, Elle, Emily , Sarah and Emma. We had a great time together and have all become very close over the past couple of days on the trip. The second day, we went on a huge cycle almost half around the whole island. i found it very long, but it was A gorgeous day so i had a great time. we stopped by for lunch around horse and carragaes before we went to the big diving area for the red bull challenge. This challenge happened in the summertime, and it was famous worldwide. We were all lucky enough to visit the 300ft long arena. i had such a great time! On the way home, it was quite tiring as it was very hot. When we arrived home, we went to a ceile and danced with all of our group. On the third day, we had another 6 hour travel home. i thought it was too long and tiring but we stopped off at the shops half way through. when we arrived back at school the next day, all of my friends from the other trip were talking about how amazing their trip was. it seems that everyone had a great time on their trips, wherever they went.
